A 1961 Steinert grad, Chuck Giambelluca played football, basketball and baseball
for the Spartans and was eventually inducted into the school's first Athletic Hall of
Fame class. He captained all three teams he played for but baseball was his main
sport, and he went on to play in the Milwaukee Braves organization. When his
playing career ended, Chuck returned to Hamilton, NJ and took the reins of Broad
Street Park Post 313 American Legion baseball team in 1970 and over the next 35
years went 711-338 with five league championships and a 1975 state title. Upon
leaving the dugout, he became the team's general manager serving until 2019. In
total, he volunteered almost 50 years of his life each summer to the youth of
Hamilton Township and never received any monetary compensation.
Chuck Giambelluca passed away on October 9, 2020 at the age of 77. In 2021, a
memorial scholarship was set up in Chuck's name as a way to keep his legacy alive.
Each spring a student-athlete for Hamilton West, Nottingham and Steinert receives
a financial award in his name.
